Title: Arduino Micro Issue
Post by: Chris Savage on Apr 01, 2024, 04:40 PM
I received this Arduino Micro some time before 2015, if I recall correctly. It was a remnant from the Savage///Circuits Vault from back when we did the monthly giveaways and The Fellowship Of The Travelling Parts Box.

I recently got it out and plugged it into my development PC. As expected, a COM Port was assigned and I proceeded to try and download an example program to it via the Arduino IDE. When the IDE started to download, I heard the sound of a USB disconnect and the download failed, as if I unplugged it during the download.

I've never seen this happen before. This is a brand new module, never been used before. But the symptom / issue is consistent. When you try to download, it causes the USB device to disconnect. I usually have to unplug it and plug it back in the recognize it again, though it still won't download.

I'm wondering if anyone has seen this issue or had these symptoms before?

So, the plot thickens...tonight I got home, grabbed a micro-B cable and fired up Arduino IDE 2.3.2 on Windows 10. The results were NOT what I expected. Still weird, but the program actually downloaded! See the video...

I FINALLY was reminded where I got this from...according to a recent "memory" on Facebook, I got this Arduino Nano back on April 10, 2014 in a contest via Nuts & Volts Magazine (https://www.nutsvolts.com/). It was the first Arduino I ever owned and it was free. I guess you get what you pay for.  :P
