From the Embedded Muse (Jack Ganselle) #492:

That's funny! I've got a couple of USB Thumb Drives that, when I copy files to them, they write a bunch of data and then stall for a period of time in which the "Time Remaining" goes up, instead of down, once to the extent of hundreds of hours.

Do you remember:

I also remember when it just gave 30-40 digit numbers of seconds/minutes/hours remaining.

It doesn't appear Jack has updated his site since June of 2024. Same joke is still posted.

Actually, Jack posts a new issue of his newsletter every month. The link that I gave is for that specific issue (Issue Number 492, June 17, 2024.)

For all of the back issues of The Embedded Muse, you need to go to: https://www.ganssle.com/tem-back.htm (https://www.ganssle.com/tem-back.htm). It is a really great newsletter, and well worth the read, most of the time.
