Title: Hello I have returned
Post by: MicroNut on Feb 25, 2025, 07:19 PM
Hi, I was a member of this forum a long time ago. Life got busy and with Covid hitting the supply chain for electronics I shifted to other hobbies I have. Granz knows me since I drove him to one of OBC's Unofficial Propeller Expos and he gave me a Newtronics Super Elf computer as a thank you. Well, right now I have plenty of free time recovering from open heart surgery. Once I'm able I plan on repurposing a TON of electronics boards I still have. I have many Propeller boards, Raspberry PI/Pico boards, Arduino boards, and Terasic DE series FPGA boards.

Welcome back, MicroNut. Hope you're recovering well. I know a lot of former members have been distracted by life events, myself included. Despite working on getting things back up and running for a few years now, I am only just now getting settled in to our (new to us) final house. Lots of work to do, which distracts me from finishing the "project" priorities. But hopefully everything will be done by late spring. Looking forward to see / hear what you're working on these days.

Wow, great to hear from you again. It has been a long time, and I've missed you. Do you still have the same phone number that you had back then?

Sorry to hear about your heart troubles, but it sounds like you are recovering. Get well quickly, my friend.

You and I also went to Micro Center, in Cleveland, with that friend of yours. Since then my youngest son has moved to the Cleveland area, and I have gone to that Micro Center a few more times. In fact, we (my wife and I) are heading up there next weekend (07-09 Mar) for a visit. We will be hitting up Micro Center for another shopping trip - I've actually been saving my allowance for a few months (we allot ourselves some walking-around-money each payday.  8) )

Have you been doing anything on your Elfs, or Timex/Sinclairs, lately?

granz, yes I still have the same number. I do have you on my contact list, so do you have the same number as well? I'm planning on retiring in the next 2 or 3 years so I'll have more time for electronics.

My current project I'm slowly going through is using a Digital simulator called Digital and taking some reversed engineered Z80 logic diagrams from Baltzar Studio and creating a Z80 simulator. Then do the same with the ZX81 ULA. Once I get a simulated ZX81 Digial can convert it to Verilog for my DE10-Lite FPGA Board.

Hey MicroNut,

Yes, I still have the same number (for about 25 years.  :o ) Retired myself (medically unfortunately  :( ) but having some difficulty concentrating. But I do enjoy working with my toys err, electronics lab.  ;)

I played around with Logisim (Digital's predecessor) many years ago. It was a pretty cool system, but I never got very far with it. I've been meaning to start working with Digital; I would like to build an Ultimate RISC (Douglas W. Jones' - University of Iowa - computer: https://homepage.cs.uiowa.edu/~jones/arch/risc/) but keep on getting stuck in rabbit holes.

We need to get together again. Maybe meet up (if Chris, Joe and any others can make it,) some time this summer? Maybe between your place and Pittsburgh (we moved a couple years ago, and now live near Greensburg.)

Depends on distance and when for me. After May is better timing.
