Is that zero (0) or zero (∅)? (For those of us old enough to have used an old Teletype ASR-33.  ;D )

To this day, when I write zeros (social security number, phone number, birth date, VIN, etc.) I always put a slash through them. I have, on a few occasions been asked why I do that and explained that, as a programmer I need to be clear if something is a zero or the letter "O".

I had not thought about it until you mentioned it, but I do the same. Funny how when you do something continuously for decades, you don't even notice.
