Nyota (my comm server, not Captain Uhura - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nyota_Uhura) is getting pretty old, and stale. It's time to replace her, and I was thinking to replace her with a Pi. In looking around, it seems that Home Assistant (or most other home control systems) servers are really communications systems - they don't actually do the controlling, but rather relay commands/data to other nodes. Am I correct in this? If so, then that could fall under Nyota's duties; otherwise it should probably go to a new server ("Scotty".)
Any way, most of the posts about Home Assistant suggest that H.A. should run on a minimum of a Pi 4 (although some people have gotten it to run on a Zero 2 W, it seems to run sluggishly.) So, I am looking for a 2, or more, gigabyte Pi 4, or better, to take on Nyota's job.
I can get one from MicroCenter (I'll be going there after the meetup) for about $45, so I don't want to spend too much on it. If anyone has one that they are not using, and can do without, I would appreciate it.
Sadly, all I have is the one for Project Gizmo and my Retro Pi gaming center. lol
Thanks anyway, but I don't want one that you need/want. I'm willing to pay, but lots of us have stuff hanging around that we do not need - that's what I'm looking for. I try to keep an eye out for people who need something, because (if you saw the photos of my workroom) I have a lot of stuff. Although, finding stuff is sometimes a challenge (still looking for that C-128, Chris. :( )
I see you closed this thread, but I wondered if you found what you needed?

Yeah, as I mentioned elsewhere, I went to MicroCenter after our meetup, and picked up a Pi 4 (2GB) and a Pi 5 (4GB.)

Sorry, I didn't make the connection. It's a very long week for me.

No troubles, I get more, and more, of those weeks all the time. :(
