Title: More Amazon Frustration
Post by: Chris Savage on Sep 30, 2025, 10:42 PM
At work I was looking on Amazon for a PC for my wife. I finally found one I liked and tried to find it on my phone app so I could purchase it. I'm not signed into Amazon on my work PC. In searching my phone for the same PC, I couldn't find anything that was the same price for the same description. I found one that was roughly $50 more and realized it was the SAME PC by comparing the rating and number of reviews.

Thinking it was a glitch in the app, I used the "share" link and sent the item link home where I am signed into my account on my PC. When I got home and clicked the link, the same item was now $73.11 more than as a guest from work! I called customer service, but all they say is that the seller sets the price.

Sounds fishy to me! The item at work as a guest is $335.89, but $370+ on my phone app, and $409.00 on my PC at home! Ridiculous!

That is pretty strange. It reminds me of AliExpress offering some cases for about $7, but when I tried to order one, it was over $700  :o  (https://forum.clockworkpi.com/t/hard-case-for-picocalc/18518 (https://forum.clockworkpi.com/t/hard-case-for-picocalc/18518).) It turned out that they were jacking the price up for American buyers. (P.S. I just checked now, and the price is down to $8.83 for the large case - but then, when I logged in, the price jumped up to $14.83. >:( )

I actually do not know; it was a mixture of things that I bought, and things that I had on hand. How about this: just use it, and when you are done, give it away to someone else that you want to get into electronics/making.

Also, if anyone else knows of a kid (here in the USA - because of shipping) that you would like to get an Arduino development kit, give me their name, and address via PM, and I will ship the other kit (https://savagechats.com/index.php?topic=431.0) to them with your name inside.
