Title: Hyundai Paywalls Brake Pad Changes
Post by: Chris Savage on Nov 16, 2025, 12:45 AM
Well, this is sad (https://hackaday.com/2025/11/15/hyundai-paywalls-brake-pad-changes/). I actually like Hyundai vehicles and own two myself. In fact, my Sonata Hybrid has an electronic parking brake.

Honestly,
I'd rather have something 90's or older... The 2002 Honda Odyssey I am driving is a pain... nut to each our own.  Then again, I have to replace the whole  >:(  >:(  >:(  >:(  steering rack, due to the line nut being rusted steel on corroded aluminum... needless to say, it's NOT coming loose....

I've always preferred American made cars, but over the years the lack of a useful warranty and the decline in quality and reliability have made it difficult, especially in lieu of the rising costs of cars. I'm not saying Hyundai has a better quality car, but what they DO have is a better quality warranty. So when you do have a problem early on, you're taken care of. The warranty on my last two Chevy vehicles was over in <18 months. On my Equinox I ended up getting an extended warranty since I had already experienced issues, but I felt like I was making a car payment again on something that was paid off.

I honestly don't want newer for more then 1 reason. 1) too hard for me to work on n 2) esp this one, the cost.. 3) quality, but i understand warranties are goodthing, and it don't surprise me at all that some better then others. I kinda got screwed by GM myself when i got my 95 chevy k3500 dually...
