This morning was fun. 3" of snow in the driveway / sidewalk. Snowblower key was missing. Then it didn't want to start. It's been a crazy day and I am late for work! Hours late! :-[
Hmmm, 3"! That's about what we got. I would have expected much more where you live.

Getting old is when you just sit around and complain about the pain in your joints and muscles. Well: stenosis (smashed disks) all the way up, and down, my spine. So, there - I'm older than you guys. ;D

Well, I'm sure some of my issues are age related...however, I injured my back and knees at my last job. At this point, I'm trying to decide how much hassle I want to go through for these injections into my back and knees. I hear mixed results from those I know go through that.
These things would cause me to miss work, but then might only last a month or so, but you can't get it done any sooner than three months. Right now I am trying to decide if it's worth going through this every three months for lost wages and limited relief. My back has gotten worse, so unless something else changes, I will be doing this. The back thing requires x-ray assistance, so that can't be cheap having that done every three months on back and knees.

Lazy? :P
We got about 8" on Thanksgiving and it was no fun driving back from my sister who lives just beyond the edge of Nowhere. Since I had my open heart surgery if I come near the snow blower my wife gives me "The Look". So she arranged a plowing service to come. They did not show up that day or the next so she found another service that was looking for new customers. As of right now I say we have 3" and it is snowing again but only 1-3 more is forecasted.

So far, I can still mow the lawn (push-mower) and run the snowblower (Self-Propelled). Minor shoveling is okay, but my back pays for it no matter what. I absolutely
cannot shovel the heavy wet snow. Mowing the lawn usually wipes me out for the weekend, but if it ever gets any worse, my cordless mower does have a self-propelled mode, though I don't currently use it.
We really are a sorry lot. ;)
Last night 3" of snow in my area, it took about 35 minutes to clean off my car this morning. Things just take longer when you start getting old.

Got 5 in in few hours in Central Ohio
We got just under six inches. My wife was worried about me having a heart attack (the getting old part,) but I was worried about throwing out my back. Not a win, either way, so we watched Church service from home, over the Internet.
Today, I have an afternoon doctor appointment, so I will be taking the morning doing a bit of shoveling at a time. I was really stupid in not getting the heat tape put onto my wheelchair ramp. :-[ :(
I would guess we got 6" here and it still is snowing a little. Yesterday was terrible. We have someone plow my driveway. The plow service we used last year stopped doing it so he told use to call another service. We did and during the first snow they never showed up so my wife called another service. He showed up put didn't know we had a gravel driveway so he scraped most of the stones off. He felt bad about that and said in the spring he'll come back and move the stones back.

You need a snow blower.

I'm afraid I agree with that sentiment. I can't shovel snow anymore. I push the light stuff off to the side to make a path. But shoveling heavy snow just isn't within the capabilities of my back.
Before_Snowblowing.jpg
This is what I woke up to this morning. Not as much as some of you. Probably 3", but more than I could deal with via shovel.
During_Snowblowing.jpg
This is my weapon against the snow. Having the driveway paved really make this so much easier as well.

Here's what it looks like now.

I put down ice melt along a path to our back porch, the sidewalk out front and our front deck.

I got a cheap $150 electric one from Rural King. Does the job pretty well.

Wow, current price $229.99 - on sale from $279.99! Inflation is a killer. >:(
The snowblower I have I got 15 years ago and at the time was $1000. I have only had it repaired once when the auger broke and needed replacing. It's different with gravel. I end up shooting stones all over and have to rake them up in the spring. The first time I used the snow blower I had stones all over my front lawn. I now point the blower down as low as it goes to minimize the spread.

This is the main reason I spent the extra money to have my driveway paved. Not just the stones flying, but the snowblower constantly getting hung up on the uneven ground. It actually hurt my back more fighting against it.

I got mine at Rural King for $150
The biggest headache I have with the gravel is that a stone gets caught in the augur and a shear bolt will shear and I have to replace that. Also every few years you need to add new gravel and mine needs it. But still is cheaper. When I looked into having it black topped a couple of years ago it would've cost 6000 or 12000 for concrete. I spent 700 instead for new gravel.

We had to weigh this same choice. Our driveway cost $11,900 for the asphalt.
