Title: The Garage Sentinel
Post by: Chris Savage on Apr 06, 2026, 08:35 PM
I just saw that someone made a clone (almost) of my Garage Parking Assistant (https://savagecircuits.com/garage-parking-assistant/) that was published in Nuts and Volts. Mine used a BASIC Stamp 2 (still popular at the time) instead of the Propeller, used three 10mm LEDs instead of two 12V lamps, and this one also used the PING))) and seems to have split things into zones as mine did.

I'm kind of shocked he never saw the one I built with so much being similar. Anyway, the irony of this is that yesterday I told my wife I was going to build one for her since her parking in our garage is highly inconsistent, and she's usually too far forward. I searched online and found some 20mm LEDs in Red, Yellow and Green that I have ordered for the project. I was also going to use an Arduino this time. The Propeller is overkill for such a project IMHO.
