This past weekend, we went camping with our kids, and grandkids. Of course, our idea of camping is not in the campers, or tents, that our kids have - we camp at Comfort Inn. :P I took a bunch of these badges, and did several little classes with the grandkids. The kids seemed to enjoy the classes and the badges, but there was too much other stuff going on (playing ;) ) to spend a lot of time with this. All told though, I count it as a success.
These printed nicely on my A-1, but the fidget spinner ring (around the outer edge of the disk) was really tight - it took a lot of work to get it to move at all. I printed some on my Centauri Carbon, and those rings worked a lot better.
Very cool. I was in the Cub Scouts, Webelos, Boy Scouts, etc. I remember Merit Badges. It was fun earning them at some point. Of course, in my day, we slept in pup-tents (Army Surplus) on the ground. In Boy Scouts there was a point when I had a dome tent, though it didn't survive.

We slept in tents, and (rarely) cabins. The only tent that I remember was a plastic tube tent that I made at one of our Scout meetings. It was a simple tent with both ends open, and no doors. You wanted to make sure that you had it facing perpendicular to the wind, and hope that the wind did not change through the night - brrrr. :o I also remember being in the tent, with another boy, and our gear in between us, and the rain pouring down on our feet. :(
I wanted this badge system to be much more informal and shorter than merit badges, and skill awards. Those could be multi-meeting, or even multi-month, endeavors - I wanted something that the little ones could earn in ten-to-twenty minutes. In fact, the camping (tent) badge was just for watching Mom, and Dad, set up the RV, or tent, and then sleeping in said camper.
I think that it went well. If any of you are involved in your Church's youth group/Children's Ministry where they go camping, you may want to look into printing these badges. I set up a print plate with four sets of each of these eight badges, and then printed the entire plate. I did one of these plates for each of four different colored filaments. This gave me many badges so each kid could choose a badge color of their preference.
