Saw this on Mastodon and thought I would share it with you all. Interesting perspective on the use of AI to remaster movies to 4K and the issues with these two movies in particular.

Personally, I don't like the idea of AI in anything.  It's already been forced on me in Facebook, and I don't like it.  The only application I'd want to consider it in, would be in something like Fallout or The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim or something, to add more conversation in with some characters.

Ironically, I play some different games, such as the Call of Duty games or Far Cry. In Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 4 I found the enemy AI fairly complex and very realistic. Far Cry 3 in particular really made me work hard to dominate a base in the game. Enemies would run and hide, seek cover, take random shots (not always from the same position or angle) and even go get help. In one case I was hiding in tall grass and the enemy burned the field down to flush me out!

Another one that had impressive AI for the enemy characters was, "Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain", though my complaint with this game was the key bindings. I wasn't really able to customize my keys in the way that I am comfortable.

That is pretty good anymore, but I guess I should have mentioned interactions with the NPCs like general conversation or even other stuff like for Skyrim, getting a guard to move out of site so you can loot chest or something.

In Far Cry and MGS, you can get people to go out of site by "distracting" them. Sometimes by throwing pebbles or using other methods of luring them away. I find these situations challenging. Sometimes you can only acquire things using stealth and brute force results in very bad results.

So people kill him because he's annoying? I guess that gets rid of that problem, huh?

Most annoying character in Far Cry isn't a particular person, per se...but rather, when you attack  abase to take it over, you have to eliminate ALL the guys that are at that base when you attack it as well as any "adds" if they call in reinforcements (this is why stealth matters). Usually the guys come after you. But sometimes, one or more guys get scared, especially if they "witness" you killing their buddies or keep finding bodies, and they run away. If they escape, you're often stuck, unable to complete the capture. The maps a HUGE, so they could run anywhere and your chances of finding them are slim. When this happens, you just have to come back later and try again.
