Quote from: granz on Jan 25, 2025, 08:56 PMI contacted the manager for our park, informing her that we have no water, and asked her to get the plumber to raise the priority to "emergency" since we cannot even flush the toilet. No response from her at all, except to send out another group text reiterating that the plumber should be able to start the job on Tuesday, or Wednesday. She did not even mention raising the priority of the job.  >:(

This sounds like my experience at the apartment complex I recently moved out of. Getting ANYTHING fixed was like pulling teeth. Getting a working stove took 3 years!

Quote from: granz on Jan 25, 2025, 08:56 PMToday, I spent most of the day at our house (had to melt a bunch of snow to flush the toilet,  :-\ ) and work on my computers (the main laptop has a different WiFi card than the ones that I have in my supply point - time to order another.  :( ) Meanwhile, I started a backup of the data on my laptop, to get ready to set up a new (to me) laptop, and let my netbook run while charging - no reboots for several hours. The best that I was able to figure out is that there is something funky about the power at that Holiday Inn - clean power from my home workshop worked fine (in fact, we are at another hotel and this netbook is working fine,  ::) weird.)

Welcome home! I've never had power issues with laptops or netbooks before. Whenever power failed, the battery kept the device running. Must have been some serious power issues. Glad you've gotten past them.

Thanks Chris,
We are back at the same hotel (actually in the same exact room  :P .) This time I am not going to plug into the multi-plug outlet, nor the wall outlet into which that is plugged. There is another wall outlet a bit further down the wall, and that is what I will use. For the time being, I am running the netbook on battery, later on I will plug it in and watch for crazy restarts.

As far as the power failing - I haven't seen any evidence of the netbook losing power. The battery is good - I unplug it to move it around the house quite often, and I usually can get three hours on a full charge. The restart is instantaneous, no light/screen flicker at all. I'm guessing that there is noise on the power line which is somehow getting past the power supply, and causing a restart through that noise. I might bring one of my scopes tomorrow to play check out how clean the power really is.

Well, I've been back for quite a while now, but it seems to take us longer, and longer, to recover after each trip. Getting old is a pain. :(

Anyway, I think that I will get back to selling this. I will leave this Epson on this thread until we get back from Cleveland (going to visit our son.) And will be putting it up on E-Bay about 10 Mar, or so. If any of my friends here are interested in this first notebook computer, let me know. Although, I am still reluctant to ship overseas due to that trouble I had before - it cost me a few hundred dollars. >:( )

You can keep this thread as long as you like. Just let me know if it sells (even if on eBay) and I will adjust the subject line accordingly. Good luck.
