Just to confirm, you're looking for something (emulator) you can practice / learn Z80 assembly on, yes?

P.S. - I must admit...just talking about this is making me extremely antsy about reviving my Z80 Retro Computer project, which I hadn't gotten very far in.
Yes, I have a ZX Spectrum emulator on my tablet right now, just trying to figure out how to use it, as I have no documentation to look at, but there's multiple versions to pick from such as Spectrum 16k, 48k or 128k among other options. 12 diff versions total and 2 keyboards the 48k ver and the 128k ver.

There is also a Spectrum emulator for the PicoCalc. I have not downloaded it yet, mainly because not being very interested in arcade-type games, I tended to be more interested in the ZX-80/81, but haven't seen any PicoCalc emulators for that. It seems that most emulator writers are more interested in games. That said, I am still going over my RunCPM system (which does run on a Pico with only an SD card socket attached.) There are lots of Z-80 tools (assembly and above) for that thing.

Funny you should mention that. I was talking to JKnightandKARR recently and mentioned that RetroPie supports the Sinclair, but is really built around the ROM cartridges (typically games) that plug into it. But many such computers had assembler cartridges and if such a ROM could be found, that would even work. But since most people using RetroPie are into games, I'm not sure there are any utility ROMs floating around out there, especially for the Sinclair.

If one could get ahold of the ROM n somehow transfer it into a supported file type, probly would work

I might have to visit some of the forums and see if anyone has the physical cartridge or the ROM files.

@granz @Chris Savage
  I found some books on the ZX Spectrum, so I'll start reading those books.

That sounds like it might be useful.

Did you get finished making the CardIAC system, and working through the book?

I found a video last night how to assemble, but still need to laminate it to keep it in good shape. I still need to finish reading it.  Been really tired lately.

Well, like I said, if you complete the CardIAC stuff first it will give you a great start to assembly on a real system.

Start small, then get bigger - or baby steps before you learn to run. :P

I was fortunate to have a mentor when I was learning various languages. He helped me learn things quicker than I would have on my own.
