At last year's meetup we were talking about doing another meetup this year, possibly in August. I can arrange it at my church again if you want. It'll be open to the public again, even though no one came. The one we had I had a good time just meeting with other forum members and catching up with old friends. I need to hold off of bringing my entire collection of electronic toys and goodies though :).
Yes, we also discussed having a format this time so that we could take turns presenting and showing off projects and such. I was happy with the first one for sure, but it was also a trial run to how to go about it in the future. ;)
Is the meet up a one day event? and where would the likely venue be?
Works for me.

The last one was a one day event, though we met again for dinner and some of us met the next morning for breakfast before going home. It was held at First Christian Church, 503 North Main Street Extension, Meadville, PA 16335

Marilyn said that we cannot do it the weekend before, nor the weekend after, her birthday (30 Sept.) Last year, we met the weekend before her birthday, and the year before that, I went to Cincinnati for Tandy Assembly; and that was also the weekend before her birthday. :(
So, she was pleased that we are planning on meeting in August. :)
If we do need to meet in Sept, it should be on Saturday the 19th, or earlier.

I was going through that thread, and noticed something:
Quote from: MicroNut on Sep 28, 2025, 05:22 PMIt was a good time. I'm glad to have met all of you!!!! Counting down to August 29th 2026 for the next one :). JKNight, that is an awesome idea! Hopefully Chris can set up a chat room. I remember OBC had one and there were about 5 people that got on it weekly for about an hour. I've lost track of them all over time. It would be great to talk with people that wouldn't give me a glassy stare when I go "geek".
Did we discuss arranging our next meetup right after the last one? I forgot about that, and it is not in my calendar. If we did set up that date, I am okay with that, and it is not too close to Marilyn's birthday. ;D
I think that I will start getting stuff together now, rather than waiting. The little LED flashlight kits will be good for "everyone gets one" give away gifts. I'll also bring a few bigger "door prize"/"raffle" items.
In my post-meetup posting, I (and several of us) mentioned cutting back on what I am bringing. I think that one, or two, in-progress projects, plus maybe one, or two, completed projects for attendees to play with, will be plenty.
I also really enjoyed our after-show dinner at Perkin's - it was really nice. Looking forward to the Savage Meetup 2026. :P
Also, Brian, you may want to change the title of this thread: I would rather not wait until 2027 to have our next meetup. :P
Oops I got a bit excited since 2027 is the year I plan to retire :). The last 2 weekends in September won't work for me. My wife and I are planning our first get-a-way vacation in 6 years the last week of September. Also the 2nd weekend in September is the church's children festival. I remember talking about doing the meetup earlier like August last year. August is open for me. I'll probably have the third week off since it is the week of our county fair. I'll be in town and I will be available any week end that month. In fact the 2nd or 3rd weekend of August nothing usually is scheduled at the church because of the fair.
@Chris I don't know how to change the 2027 to 2026 in the tile.

I fixed it for you. ;)

So, how does the 29th look to you guys?
Sounds good with me. That is the last Saturday of the fair. I'll be tired of the fair food and the produce exhibits will look pretty raunchy by then :). I don't see too many people locally coming to our meetup because of the fair. More time to get caught up with each other!

Do you think that the first, or second, Saturday in Sept would have more locals come to the meetup. I would still like to bring more people in to electronics - and preferably also to Savage///Chats.
I don't think so... The first weekend is Labor Day Weekend. We can't do the second weekend because of the children's festival. Besides when we did it last year there wasn't anything going on in the area and we still didn't have anyone showing up. The only way we can increase visibility is to post it in the local paper. I did post it in most of the local areas and on the Meadville face book page. I could post it on the local news sites this time as well.
Okay, then it looks like the 29th of August is it. Any comments?

Comment: That day is currently clear on my calendar.
Sounds good! That's three.
I'll reserve the church for Aug 29th this week. I'll let you know if there are any hiccups. I have that week off since we have our local county fair that week and I go to that throughout the week.
@granz, I may be in Pittsburgh that week as well. There is something happening there for my other hobby, the American Numismatic Association World's Fair of Money (Tues-Sat)!

Great - thanks for reserving your Church building.
About you coming down to the 'Burgh, let me know - maybe we can meet up for dinner one of the days. Will your wife be joining you? If so, Marilyn would probably enjoy the dinner too.
