I have had people try and beat me down on price when I was in fact doing them a favor, in the end I quit doing jobs for family friends and acquaintances, when asked how much I would charge I would say "you can't afford me" with a slight smile on my face.

I think a lot of people who started, like me, doing things for free, are especially susceptible to being underappreciated.
