I think I found how to enable mentions. Not sure if it works. Here's the first test.

When you type the "@" and the next letter, you should get an autocomplete suggestion box. Did you see that?

@Chris Savage - It took two characters to get your name but that may be happening if there is more than one member with a name that starts with C

Excellent. I got the alert this time. I happened to be on the page last time and refreshed, so didn't notice if I got an alert before. Thank you for helping me test this feature. It was very difficult to find the settings for it, despite it being built-in since V2.1 of SMF.

In your personal settings, the default is to get a notification of mentions, but you have to check a box and save things to get an email.

I gotta give credit to @granz for bringing this up a few times. In searching for mods to handle this, I saw a forum post that mentioned it would be integrated in V2.1, which at the time had not come out, but most assuredly is now. I was highly motivated to figure it out, despite never seeing it mentioned during setup.

Today, I did get something when I first sat down at my (main) computer - I use two different computers every day. It showed up as a small box, in the upper-right corner of my computer, and said something about Savage... - but it went away before I could read it. I also had the "Alert" link at the top of the page highlighted.

Thanks, but since I check in here several times a day, I don't think that email alerts would help. I was thinking that it would help others, who don't check in as often.

I just happened to be sitting at my computer this morning, when an alert came in. It popped up on my screen, saying that I had gotten a response to one of my posts. I guess that it is working now, I just have to be actively working on my computer. Thanks.
