Dell M6800 (https://i.dell.com/sites/doccontent/business/smb/merchandizing/en/Documents/Dell_Precision_M6800_Spec_Sheet.pdf)

It was a great machine, up until the hinge broke. I've just never had any luck fixing hinges on laptops/notebooks. Also, as I said, the carcass has been pretty well picked over - there ain't much left over; I even took out the WiFi card and the fans. It would not be worth anything as a computer - unless you do like I did with my first car: it was a $50 Ford Maverick which turned out to be a $50 body repair course.  ;D
By specs no dvd drive, correct? I'd get for my dad so he can watch dvd's but needs a drive lol I know the feeling. Lol older stuff easier to work on. Lol

Well, at least you can do some repairs. I have seen people abandon PCs over very simple things, just because they didn't know what was going on. I'm glad I can do my own repairs.
Me too. Cheaper too!!

WAIT, WAIT - I think that you are reading this TOTALLY WRONG. This is not a computer that you are going to want to give to ANYONE!!! In addition to the broken hinge, it does not have any RAM, nor any hard drive (including SSDs,) no fans, no speakers, no WiFi card, no battery. If you want to give it to someone you would need to spend probably about a thousand dollars, plus MANY hours (weeks even!  :o ) This makes a turkey carcass, which is ready to make into soup, look loaded.

YOU DO NOT WANT THIS TO USE AS A COMPUTER!!!!!!!!!

Although, actually, it does still have the DVD burner - I have several of those already.

OK, you had me worried when you said that you were thinking of giving it to your father.

If you do find an XP laptop/notebook with a DVD drive, don't give it to your father as it is. Load it up with Linux (if you find a 32-bit system, there are still a few 32-bit Linux versions out there,) before you give it to him. XP is still too vulnerable to chance him trying to go on the Internet with it.

No this is the 2nd laptop i got from ya. Its got XP but the optical drive is bad. I had one that could have fit but the connector was different.  I got a system i can send him, but gotta redo it... got it for my mom shortly before she died, no optical, but an external can fix that, and idk the 4 digit PIN she set up sooo.... gotta wipe out n redo.
