Cereal box - Dry box - Spool and Desiccant Holder

I printed these to realize a better storage solution for my in-use filament spools.

Each tray has a desiccant box in the back, and a hydrometer holder in the front. You can use either the standard rectangular ones, or the round ones. In the first photo, you can see both holders are printed, though you don't need both.

Here is a close-up of the rectangular hydrometer that I am using. They tell the relative humidity and temperature.

Once installed in these cereal boxes, you can now store your filament, keep it dry and see the amount of moisture in the box. I purchased this desiccant from Amazon.

While storing the filament before, I would feed the end of the spool through the little holes designed to hold the filament and keep it from unwinding.

As you can see, this results in a bend in the filament where it goes through the two holes. It may not look like much on this translucent filament, but the regular stuff kinks there and then won't feed properly unless you cut off the section with the bends.

I printed these filament clips that are designed for the Bambu Lab filament / spools.

Now I don't need to put any bends in the filament when storing it.

As you can see, these fit nicely inside the cereal dry boxes.

This is how I used to store my filament that was not currently being used. In gallon Ziplock baggies with a pack of desiccant. When printing sometimes the bench would get shaking and the spools would fall off the shelf as the bags are somewhat slippery.

The white bench here is a mess and needs to be cleaned (as does the stuff on the floor). Today I will be installing track shelving behind it on the wall, where I will eventually move the dry boxes with the filament.

There are a dozen dry boxes with filament in them, and that doesn't even count everything. There are still spools installed in the printers.

Several years ago, I saw where someone had their filament stored in plastic boxes, similar to this. They had drilled/cut small-ish (maybe an inch diameter) holes in the side of the boxes for the filament to exit, and then had stuffed sponge pieces into the holes where the filament went through the sponges. This had the double result that the sponge kept the filament inside the boxes dryer, and also smoothed the filament of any bumps to make it fit into the hot end.

Something else: I noticed that, in addition to the Amazon-linked products, the Italian Amazon site had the cereal boxes, and the hydrometers "unavailable." So I did a bit of searching...

Someone else pointed this out to me too. I forgot to mention, the author's links were bad, however in the comments, someone had posted updated links that worked. Even so, I updated the first post with the links to the exact products I bought and also linked the round hydrometers, even though I didn't use them. Since I had printed the mounts for those, I gave them to a friend so he can use them in his and save some material.

So, did you actually purchase, and use, those hygrometers? How did you like them? Also, could you give a link to the ones that you did purchase, please?
