And yet, by the number of these programmers they sell on Amazon, you'd think the opposite.  ::)

I wonder how many people need to program those chips. Although, they seem like a useful RAM device, you would think that it's not a small number.

It's just just this chip. In experimenting, I found that the generic 2764 also has issues. I'm sure there are others, I just haven't found them yet. They probably have a table that has all the definitions in it. I suspect it got corrupted somehow.

Have you tried downloading, and reinstalling, the software again?

Yes. I even tried it on three different PCs. But, I also tried to go back to a more stable version, only to find that this software will not let you use an older version of the software. If it knows there is an upgrade, it denies you to use the current version. Had I known that I would have taken that PC offline so it couldn't detect the upgrade.

P.S. - I HATE software that disables itself to force an upgrade.

An extension of the "planned obsolescence" plague that is destroying engineering.

Yeah, so true. I don't think the software for the unit you got from me suffers from that bug. The software for the T48 and up all use different software and it's that software that is the problem. I remember one time when I tried to download an update from their site, I got a virus warning. In the forums someone posted about that and the reply was, "false positive". Modern Anti-Virus software is so much more immune to that kind of thing that all I could think was, "BS!".

False positive from an anti-virus (any kind) is disconcerting any time. It makes you wonder if it is indeed a false positive, or a false false positive.  :o
