In the movie, Law Abiding Citizen, Gerard Butler's character, Clyde Shelton is seen in the first minute of the movie working on a very hacked Propeller Proto Board, which I designed while working in engineering at Parallax. I recognized the board immediately while watching this movie.

When I say "hacked", I mean the board has been cut up and most components missing or desoldered. In the first image you can see the remnants of the first board with the DC barrel jack, power switch and USB connector. You can also see where the optional VGA connector would go.

In the second photo you can see a second PCB with most of it cut away and what looks like a USB to serial adapter being solder onto it. You can see on both boards that the 5V / 3.3V regulators have been desoldered.

Sad! Why did they butcher a PPDB?

They butchered a Propeller Proto Board. My guess is they were just trying to make it look like something unique and avoid branding issues. They also might have been spare boards that had been cut up for a prop or something and they just used them here.

There are many movies I have seen that use Parallax products and of course, even some newer movies, like the John Wick series, that use Commodore computers from the 80s.
