On the finished case, it's going to take longer, having printer issues,, plus I gotta really think how to place everything inside, cables creating some issues. lol, and my resin printer isn't big enough to print my case, but It will somewhat be in a case. The metal one, with the keyboard installed only. The Pi will be exterior if anyone has never seen one before.

That's fine. I was just referring to discussing what you are looking for in terms of laser work. Such a quickly evolving discussion will be more productive in person, methinks.

Want opinions, since IDK how to add pole, doinf this way. Concidering swaping out the Pi5 for my Pi5. Reason is, was trying to play Zelda:OOT and occasion, it freezes. Need more power/ram? Setting? Idk, so since doing project Gizmo for Linux system, still hard time doing Linux and Windows on my old laptop, so don't think I need much outta it, but the RetroPi might need more since I am having issues. What do anyone think? @granz @Chris Savage @MicroNut @Jim Fouch

Well, I priced some Pi4s and Pi5s and WOW did they go up.... Pi5 w/16GB RAM like nearly $300.....  One issue with using the Pi5 for this, while not too big of a deal, still kinda is one, is the Status LED. https://raspberrytips.com/green-and-red-light-on-raspberry-pi/ Which would be better to add externally, if possible. Though it mentions the 4s having a status LED too, I'll have to check; I don't remember one being on on there.  But I am considering switching out my Pi5 for the one being used on my Pi4 RetroPi system, and putting the Pi5 on RetroPi, I tried a PS1 game, The Need For Speed and it won't play, so probly will end up doing this, I need a couple more things to finish it, I think only the MicroSD card Ext cable and the USB-C to USB OTG and USB-C ext cable, for my LED light strip inside.  Speaking of which, @Chris Savage Can that Laser machine of yours be able to make the Gizmo and JKnight logos? I just need to get my sizes and the Font I want to use. Sadly TinkerCAD can't use the Font I want, so not sure how I'd make it.

My laserbox can cut / engrave wood or acrylic. It can also etch the finish off powder-coated or anodized aluminnum. It requires an SVG file to import into the native software. I use Lightburn currently, though I may switch to using FreeCAD for both 2D and 3D stuff.

Cool, what about painting over acrylic then doing laser thing, or would 3d print be better?? I ain't worried if plastic comes out cloudy. Would sand bottom probly anyhow to get frosted look to defuse lighting. Any case sadly I can't import my font of choice in programs I know... I might buy one of those BS2s you have to use as controller for led colors..

Well, first thing to keep in mind is what type of gases (fumes) would be created by firing a laser at paint. Many materials are not safe for laser cutting because of the toxic fumes produced. I personally would not try to cut / etch regular paint.

As for 3D printing...nobody uses 3D printing for clear (See through) designs, however, if you need a frosted effect, yes, you can 3D print something. Many of the "Lamps" on the MakerWorld website use either translucent (not clear) filament to diffuse the light. Technically use you use standard filament if you only print a couple of layers. The thing you have to watch out for is creating "walls", because the infill will make it look horrible.

I don't know why you wouldn't be able to import the font. You don't normally import a font into a program...you import the font into Windows and then it should be available to the application. If you have any questions about this, let me know.

There are two ways to add fonts to Windows. The old way is to drag the .TTF (True-Type Font) file into the Windows Fonts folder. The other way on more modern versions of Windows is to reight-click on the file and select install.

If you give me a day or two, I am adding some regular BS2 Modules (New Old Stock) to the MeBay store.
