Quote from: JKnightandKARR on Jun 21, 2025, 11:58 PMYou misunderstood. I'm free that weekend, so maybe I can do it.

So, you want us to have the meetup on the thirteenth?

JKnightandKARR

Just saying that I already have that weekend off, I "might be able todo other dates, just gotta put request in for it.

granz

So, now it looks like this:

  • 02 Aug - Not good for Brian & Chris
  • 09 Aug -
  • 16 Aug -
  • 23 Aug - Possible second choice?
  • 30 Aug - Not good for Chris
  • 06 Sep -
  • 13 Sep - Preferred for Joe Possible first choice?
  • 20 Sep - Not good for Chris
  • 27 Sep -

Anyone else want to chime in? For scheduling purposes, we should firm up a date pretty soon. That way we can all start preparing.

Also, is anyone interested in speakers? I could do one on the Pico, and PicoMite BASIC, or some other topics. Is anyone interested in this kind of topic? Or, maybe just a few five-minute show off sessions for people to show off what projects they have going?

Ironically, September 13th is a geek holiday. Day of the Programmer.

Well, I guess that clinches it - 13 September it is!  Any other thoughts?

By the way, if interested in this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Programmer%27s_Day. It's an interesting (short) read.

Thanks for sharing the link. I didn't have it handy, but on that day my website will show a banner that links to that same article. I have a lot of Geek holidays programmed in. When they come up, clicking on them takes you to an informational page, usually on Wikipedia.

So, just because so much has been shared and passed, what is the meeting place and time? I literally just have Erie, PA in my calendar.

So, you literally just have Erie in your calendar because all that we have is 13 Aug, and in/near Erie. We're still looking for a place, maybe the library. Jim hasn't been feeling well, and thinks that he may be able to get to the library this week. As for the time, I'm hoping to start about noon, and go until late afternoon or early evening (5:00 to about 7:00 or 8:00.) We are still looking for input.

So far, the only ones who have shown interest are Brian, Chris, Joe, Jim and me, along with three wives.

I have invited Joe's Computer Museum and Land Boards, but have not had any response from either of them. If any of you know any other businesses in our field, that are in the Western PA, Western NY, Eastern OH or Northern WV region, please invite them. I guess anyone from anywhere is welcome.

We are also missing substance. I have not had any responses about what we would like to see. Does anyone want any history speeches, any show-and-tells, any tutoring sessions, what?

MicroNut

Always looking to the stars.

I think you meant, 13 Sep?  :P

Okay, with 5 pages of information, I wasn't sure if I missed something important. If I was still running vBulletin, we would have had an info age that we kept updating and everything would be in a fixed place.  ;)

I haven't really given it much thought since it's only part of one day. I'll really have to think about that. I'll bring my laptop and whatever project(s) I plan to show. I guess I could demo something new I am working on. Hoping to have a couple of things published before then, so we'll see what's on the block at that point. Valerie and were thinking about getting a motel in the area. I don't want to drive there and back in the same day.

OUCH!  :o Yes, thanks for that correction. Also, 13 Sept gives a bit more time to set up.

Yeah, I'll bring, at least, one laptop/notebook. I'm still proud of my Dev Notebook (https://zappbots.altervista.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=327&sid=36448f8452b71529a60f7b2f2b975aed,) and will bring that to show off. I also have some other stuff to demo. I may also bring some of the products from my old store to give away.

Maybe I could bring some stuff to do a door prize. Jeff (@OldBitCollector) used to do a fund-raising raffle at the Unofficial Propeller Expos, would anyone be interested in something like that, and what charity would we want to help out (maybe the Computer Widows Assistance Fund for our wives. ;D )

Yeah, we will be getting a motel, also. I don't do as well driving in the dark as I used to (getting old is a pain.  :P )

Sounds great to me - more confirmation that we have the right date.

I will bring some giveaways as well, though my stock isn't what it used to be. Perhaps a raffle prize.

Perhaps we can get breakfast the next morning somewhere.

Well, I got a response from Joe, unfortunately he is not able to make it this time. I still plan on bringing my Pico Micro Mac to show off. I will also give the URL for ordering one, in case anyone is interested.

Quote from: MicroNut on Apr 29, 2025, 06:34 PMSince I moved away 25 years ago I don't know of a good place to meet there but I will ask my friends and family in Erie for suggestions if that is the decided location. Also any location with a Micro Center nearby works for me :)

I have not gotten any further reply from Jim (beyond that he was in a lot of pain.) Have you gotten any ideas from any of your Erie contacts?

I've spent about 10-20 hours so far trying to find some place to meet in Erie. It's truly disturbing (and more than somewhat discouraging) to find out how many ERIE, PA Meeting rooms are in Toronto, New York City, Chicago, Miami, Houston, Dallas, and other places around the world. >:( Still waiting on replies from several of the places.

Marilyn reminded me that you had mentioned the possibility of using your church building in our first call about this. Could you check and see if that is a possibility. We should be able to pay a fee, if they need.

Quote from: MicroNut on Jun 17, 2025, 08:02 AMI hope Jim can give you the info you need from the library. If not I will be in the area this weekend. Pizza?? I'm not sure about food there but Erie is an Italian town. It seems like there is a pizza place on every street corner so that won't be difficult. Probably Barbato's or Valerio's pizzas are the best and they both have multiple locations.
Any input from your visit?
