I've created several Acrylic LED Signs as gifts in the past, but I've also done many 3D Prints.

Minecraft Grass Block Container

This one was made for my older grandson, but I decided it was too small, so I made him a bigger box. He's a MINECRAFT fan.

This is ultimately what I gave him.

Cat Deco Door Corner

This was for my older granddaughter, and she absolutely loved it!

This one is for my sister-in-law, though I haven't seen her to give it to her yet.

Very cool!  I've thought about getting a 3D printer one of these days.

Half the people at work have 3D printers. We use them at work to create obsolete / unavailable parts.

Of course, I've been staging the materials and remotely running the prints on both printers while I am not home. Yesterday while we were at our final Christmas party of the year, I decided to print one more of the Minecraft Blocks and for whatever reason, I printed the top first, this time.

When I got home, I realized that I ran out of the green filament while printing, and the print failed. It was so close.

Advantage Elegoo Neptune 2, mine can't do that. Sensor prevents it.

Your 3D Printer manufactures its own filament?!?  :o

No, it has a sensor that goes before the extruder motor that detects if there is still filament going through or not, if not, stops printing till more filament is added.

Yes, that's what mine does. I thought that was a standard feature. Nonetheless, I had no more filament of that color to add, so no way to finish the cap. If I had more of that color, I could have added it to the AMS and it would have automatically switched to the next spool of filament.

The AMS has an RFID reader, so it knows what is on each spool when you load it and is smart enough to auto-switch. Sadly, the other three spools were orange, brown and black. The orange and green were sample sized spools that came with the AMS. I hate when companies do that. Like, when you buy a printer and the ink cartridges are sample-sized. WHY?!?

P.S. - I thought you were trying to tell me your printer could not run out of filament. Now THAT would be cool.

That reminded me of a video that I watched where they described a guy from California, and a guy from Germany. They were discussing differences between their home areas. The Californian asked the German what would happen if he were to lose his driver's license, and get caught driving. The German said that you cannot drive without a license. Then the guy from California said, "yeah, but what if you just decided, one night, that you were going to hop in the car and drive." To which the German replied "no, it is impossible to drive without a license." Germans are much more into following rules than Californians.  :)

While I see what you're tying to say, the example presupposes that you're aware you lost your license. I have, on occasion, left home without my license.  :-[

As I typed that, I realized that the the phrase, lost your license, is somewhat ambiguous. Ostensibly the Californian meant had your license taken from you, whereas I was thinking simply misplaced it.  :-\

MicroNut

Nice Minecraft blocks and black cat.

I have an old Makerbot that a friend gave me. He upgraded it quite a bit but the LCD screen needs repairs and the first time I tried it I think I clogged the extruder. It has been sitting in my basement collecting dust the last 2 years. I think it may be time to work on it.
Always looking to the stars.

Back while stationed at Tyndall AFB, FL, I went swimming in the Gulf, and my license got lost in the water. This was while I was courting Marilyn, and making frequent trips to Keesler AFB, MS to see her. One morning I was in the chow hall having breakfast, and my First Sergeant came and sat with me. After pleasantries, I mentioned that I had just gotten back from Keesler, and he asked me if I had lost my license. I kinda noticed that he was a bit tense, but didn't pay much attention. I replied that I had been swimming, and my license washed out to sea, and I hadn't gotten a replacement yet. The tension just poured out of his face, and he said, "oh good." That's when I realized that one of the guys in my barracks was trying to get me in trouble. I was really glad that I had not had my license pulled by the state. :D

Since we have several cat lovers in the family, I also made these as kind of a gag gift for a few people.
