This morning I got a message (on both of my computers) saying "Please wait while this request is verified." What is going on?

On this website? Can you take a screenshot?

I'll try - it only happens when I've been off the forums for a few hours, and only lasts a second or two. I just tried refreshing the page, both here, and back at the main topic screen and no authenticating notice. Let me try back in a couple hours and see if I can get it again.

Odd, I've never seen that.

I'd never seen that before, either. That's why I was asking Chris - hoping that the site did not get ???

Okay, so I had a couple of coworkers go to this site and they experienced a very long delay before the site came up. Longer than I would have expected. One reported seeing something about cleantalk, which is the anti-spam plug-in I use. Because of an error doc reported a couple of days ago, I updated that plug-in. I'm now wondering if that has anything to do with what you're seeing?

When I get home I will send the screenshot to both my ISP and CleanTalk Support to see if it is related to either. I will report back.

Okay, I have created support tickets with both my host and with my anti-spam plug-in provider (CleanTalk). I have a feeling the authentication screenshot has to do with that, and the 404 has to do with my host. I'm thinking there was an authentication issue and the redirect went to a bad URL, generating the 404. I will see if I can force it to use mine in the future, but for right now I am curious about what is happening. Seems funny it started shortly after I updated the CleanTalk plug-in though.

Yeah. I did not get that last night before bed - went from my workbench's laptop to my walker's netbook and a couple hours later than on my workbench. It also did not show up this morning.

So, I guess that we'll see.

Here's the responses I got back last night. CleanTalk said:

QuoteThe "Awaiting Authentication" is not related to CleanTalk. There is a security solution that might cause the issue or the LitSpeed cache itself. In any case, I'd recommend you contact your hosting support to investigate this matter further.

My host, Skystra replied:

QuoteLitespeed is just the web server, and the green circle is usually shown when the firewall detects the IP address connecting (or the IP range the user is on) is a known botnet, usually a few networks hacked to hit websites.

The firewall uses a small hidden javascript to detect if it's a real user and then lets them in. It's there to prevent hacks on the website, or several bots from taking down the website.

Generally, nothing to worry about, and once an IP is verified as valid, the user will rarely see that screen again.

Well, I am not a bot, and it's pretty sad that StarLink assigned me an IP address grouped into a range used by bots. >:(

They said that once verified that I should not get that notification again. It has happened about a half-dozen times; hopefully they can now mark my address as safe.
