Today I purchased a new-to-me Monoprice Voxel 3D printer (https://monopricesupport.kayako.com/article/262-mp-voxel-3d-printer-introduction-setup.)

Recently, I saw an article about the ToyBox 3D printer, and it said that the printers were ready to go, out of the box. Also, they run between about $125-$175. I was thinking about getting one to show off at the meetup (wanting to get the non-hackers interested.)

One of my many tabs was open to a site called "OfferUp." I had never heard of OfferUp, and have no idea how that tab was opened there, but I gave it a try, and found the Monoprice, in good working condition, for $100. I was able to talk him down to $90, and went out today and picked it up. This Voxel is also a fully-assembled ready-to-go printer, and was designed for beginners (and while I am FAR from a beginner in electronics, I am a beginner in 3D printing.)

He was nice enough to bring a small amount of filament with him, and I was able to place the printer in my office (pictures coming) but have not been able to try it out yet, due to the pain in my back. Amazon had a nice assortment of eight spools of different colors for $44 (shortly after I ordered I saw a similar set for $39. ::) ) They should arrive Saturday, and hopefully I can test it out then, or Monday.

More to come...

Thanks, Joe. Two of my grand-daughters are coming over today - I wish that it was next week, then I could do some printing with them.

I finally got a moment to watch the video. Nice...can't wait to see what you create with it.

I was able to jury-rig a holder for the 1Kg spool (only a little bit of filament on it.) Printing a Benchy now, and Marilyn just said that the girls are here. Bye.

I hope you enjoy your time with the grand kids. And, I hope your Monoprice Voxel 3D printer gives you many good prints.

Admire the person with dirt under his fingernails.

Thanks, Benchy turned out a beautiful print, so I'm happy.

I took the girls to the Bushy Run Battlefield Museum (https://bushyrunbattlefield.com/,) and they loved it. Then we went to one of the few McDonald's which still has a Play Land (very close to our home,) and the girls played for about three hours. It was a great day.

I see. Well, I don't know for certain, but I would imagine that it is related to, what my son calls, the "law suit lottery." Hey, I want to be a millionaire so I'm going to sue until I win. The companies cannot deal with those crap-idiots costing them millions in legal defense; so they just shut play places, and other things, down. Those people are why we can't have nice things.

Printed one of the Small Breadboard With Power cases from:https://www.instructables.com/3D-Print-Electronic-Cases/

It's pretty cool. The trouble was that I printed it with a raft, but should not have. I looked through all the settings for how to disable the raft - then finally found it in the slicer program - after the print sarted.  ::) Some of the ridge for the sliding lid broke while trying to peel the raft away from the printed parts. So, another print is now under way (even though the first one will still work.)

Also, on order now, are some CR2032 rechargeable Li cells with charger, some of the coin-cell holders for this case, and a micrometer. The coin-cell holders should be here tomorrow, and by Wednesday, the other two should arrive.

Cute, little , teeny-tiny development device, with power. 8)  Not sure that you could get much smaller. I'm thinking a small 8-pin DIP controller (maybe the ATtiny-11, or -85, with a couple LEDs - maybe sending out a Morse Code message.) It might look cool at the Meetup (https://savagechats.com/index.php?topic=366.0. Hey, maybe some of these could make nice door prizes! :)
