@granz, you have an Elegoo, too?

Original post here, but an attempt to upgrade the Naptune 2/2D with a BLTouch sensor. The video in the above link mentions not to do it, as still needs occasional manual leveling, but I've found a custom firmware that allows auto and manual levelimg modes!

Going to D/L the files as the post got moved once....

The firmware.

Nice, I also watched that video, and disagreed with him about not using the auto-leveling. But, I had not found that firmware. I think that, especially with the new firmware, I will go ahead and get one of those kits.

Thanks for the links.

You might want to pass that link on to the guy in the video. He did say that he hoped that they would come out with that firmware. He would probably appreciate it.

I can do that.  I also think it could be useful, that's why I posted the link to the other firmware.  Has option to switch between auto and manual, where Elegoo, is one or other, which I DO see his point on that, since they do need manual leveling, so this other firmware not only has options for both, but other stuff as well.

Dear God..... got Neptune 2D ordered on 8/10/21...... FIRST print job, Started 11/21/25......
1) Touch screen failure.....
2) Control board failure...
3) Trouble leveling bed....
ZERO print time...... *insert facepalm here*

JKnightandKARR

First print DEFINITELY has issues, but still success! It's wavy, on the bottom half, top, not so much, but who cares, it's not meant to look pretty, will probably just spray paint it, hope PLA will last outside, like 15% infill, cover for trash compactor at work..... Stupid start button kept freezing last winter...

First print. Little off on the inside edges, but who cares?? It fits, it worked for mock up, on to some modifications to make it work better to keep water off the stupid start button this winter.

I was thinking, when I saw this, that after 1 and 2 failed, I already knew 3 would fail.  :-[

And what does this control?

And, did you design this yourself, or did you download someone else's design (and customize it)?

Either way, it looks pretty cool, and hopefully will do the job.

It's the trash compactor at work. Kept freexing the start button due to water getting in...

Mine, quick model job on TinkerCAD using a few measurements of the box.

Nicely done! Let us know how it works when the freezing weather gets there.

Make sure that you keep a record of this, along with any comments from your boss and co-workers (especially good if you can get your boss to write up a small "thank you" note/letter.) If you can keep doing stuff like this for your work, Church, friends, etc. and record the description of the jobs and comments from others, it will make a nice portfolio which is very helpful for along with a resume for technical/engineering jobs.

Thanks, I wish that I had gotten (and followed) that kind of advice when I first got started.  :(
