First print. Little off on the inside edges, but who cares?? It fits, it worked for mock up, on to some modifications to make it work better to keep water off the stupid start button this winter.

And what does this control?

It's the trash compactor at work. Kept freexing the start button due to water getting in...

And what does this control?

And, did you design this yourself, or did you download someone else's design (and customize it)?

Either way, it looks pretty cool, and hopefully will do the job.

Mine, quick model job on TinkerCAD using a few measurements of the box.

Do a write up about this, using "Statement of problem" and "Solution" sections. In the first section, talk about how you noticed that in the winter, water would get into the switch and freeze, causing it to stop working. Try to be as descriptive as you can. Add a short paragraph (two to four sentences) about how the switch works. Mention any comments from your boss, and co-workers. Add a photo of the switch unit without the shield that you made.

In the next section, mention any other ideas that you had about how to fix it. Then mention how you came up with the idea of making a rain shield, and then how you took the measurements and designed it in TinkerCad and then sliced it in Cura (or whatever you used) and finally printed it up. Describe how you checked the fit, and how you attached it to the switch. Then add the above photo to your document.

This should only be about one, to three, pages, max. If you have done any more of these type projects (I.E. your battery for your Z-Star, getting your Green notebook working, anything else,) write them up in a similar format. NOTE: make certain that you have absolutely perfect spelling and grammar - use a friend/associate who is good with writing as an editor. That is vital to showing that you can do the communication part of any engineering job. You may want to look up "Engineering Notebook" and start keeping one, so that you have that on which to write your portfolio. The stuff in your notebook will have all the thoughts, measurements, tests, trials, etc - you will take that stuff and summarize it for your reports that I described above.

Nicely done! Let us know how it works when the freezing weather gets there.

Make sure that you keep a record of this, along with any comments from your boss and co-workers (especially good if you can get your boss to write up a small "thank you" note/letter.) If you can keep doing stuff like this for your work, Church, friends, etc. and record the description of the jobs and comments from others, it will make a nice portfolio which is very helpful for along with a resume for technical/engineering jobs.
